I remember picking up a copy of The
Hunger Games from the new arrivals shelf at Barnes & Noble. I
remember ordering and receiving my copy of Mockingjay, which came
with a specialty mockingjay pin. I dressed up as a dead tribute for the
midnight premiere of the movie…. Basically, what I’m saying is that I’ve been a
longtime fan of the series and I am so excited to be talking about these books
again.
So, what do we know? The new book is actually going to be a prequel set 64 years before The Hunger Games, and it’s going to take place during the Dark Days after the war. As a fan of the series, I’m really thrilled to delve into some of Panem’s history featured in its own novel.
There is still a lot we don’t know
about this book yet. Right now, it’s being referred to only as the Untitled
Panem Novel and there is no confirmation of who the book will focus on.
There is also a chance that there will be a fifth movie in The Hunger Games series, as Lionsgate has stated that they’ve been
in contact with Suzanne Collins throughout the writing process of her new
novel.
Do we have a date? Why yes, fellow
Hunger Games fans, we do. The book is slated to be published on May 19, 2020.
And since I know that feels like an eternity away now, here are some new
dystopian novels to tide you over until then.
