It’s hard not to become totally obsessed with psychopathic bookstore owner Joe Goldberg, especially when he’s played by actor Penn Badgley. I mean, with those looks, we can look past his criminal tendencies…right? Plus it looks like Chrissy Teigen agrees with us—so we’re all good.
If you’re just as confused as we are about why
you care so much about a murderous hipster lunatic, you’ll be squealing in
excitement to learn that Joe is back. That’s right: Netflix is dropping a
brand-new season of the You TV series on December 26, so it
looks like all our murder-and-crime-obsessed Christmas wishes are coming true!
This second batch of episodes, based off
another of Caroline Kepnes’ books, Hidden Bodies, details Joe’s
cross-country move to LA and his attempts to put his past (and the corpses in
it) behind him. The season is expected to be just as creepy-good as its
preceding season. Before it airs, be sure to pick up a copy of Hidden
Bodies so you can play “spot-the-differences” and stay clued-in on all
Joe’s stalker-ish schemes.

The official trailer for You: Season 2 has just dropped…and Joe is now “Will”?!!!
Joe describes L.A. as a place where everyone is pretending to be something they’re not. And now, it seems as though he his too…
You: Season 2 is releasing very soon—on December 26!
We learned
the date from this creepy new poster featuring Joe Goldberg (a.k.a. Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley), who’s
clearly zeroing in on a new victim…
The previously released teaser trailer is mysterious enough.
Although it
doesn’t disclose much about what’s about to go down, it does a pretty good job
of sending chills down our spines. After seeing this, we know we can’t be the
only ones anxiously awaiting the full trailer with more hints at what’s ahead.

So, what is
season two really about? What new characters will arrive on the scene? Let’s
break it down.
Joe’s heading out West (to destroy more
lives).
You Season 2, like Kepnes’ book Hidden
Bodies, follows Joe as he
leaves New York City behind and begins a new life in Los Angeles. After ending
an intense relationship–by, uh, violently murdering his girlfriend, Beck,
after stalking and psychologically torturing her–he’s planning to start over
again.
We’ll find
him passing time working in a local grocery store, where he has befriended his
manager, Calvin (Adwin Brown). Comedian Chris D’Elia will also take the screen
as Henderson, a chic hipster with expensive L.A. taste. Remembering Joe’s
previous victims, these characters hit a little too close to home.
Speaking of
which, we also know that Joe is ready to pursue (by which we mean STALK) a new
romantic interest–a woman named Love, played by The Haunting of Hill House
star Victoria Pedretti. Considering his horrifying track record with
relationships (if you could call them that?), it’s safe to assume obsession and
intense manipulation will soon follow.
But there is
one piece of good news:
Candace is out for revenge.
What’s really
thrown us for a loop, in the best possible way, is the presence of Joe’s
long-lost ex-girlfriend, Candance (Ambyr Childers), who had been missing and
presumed murdered. In the book, Candace is in fact dead, but as we learned in
the season 1 finale, in the show’s universe she’s alive and plotting to take
Joe down. (Yay!)
Will Joe
succeed in continuing his murderous rampage, or will Candace find a way to end
his reign of terror? We can’t wait to find out! Check back here for more
updates as we get them. December 26 can’t come soon enough…
