In Nine Perfect Strangers, nine people (hence the title) have all
decided to go to a retreat at Tranquillum House. It’s a health resort in the
middle of nowhere with individualized treatments designed exactly for each
guest. Some of the guests want to lose weight, some want to work on
mindfulness, and some you aren’t sure why they are there. The owner of the
resort, Masha,
promises that the life of everyone
who attends will be transformed in ten days. I can’t tell you much more without
giving the story away, but if you like novels with the narrative told by
multiple characters, enigmatic, guru-like leaders, and a locked-room-esque
setting, then you should read this one and the others like it on this list!
The book by Liane Moriarity is being adapted by Hulu and is slated to premiere in late 2020, starring Kate McKinnon! Nicole Kidman (who currently stars in Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies) will be producing the Nine Perfect Strangers adaptation.
