Gillian Kohli is the co-owner of Wellesley Books in Wellesley, MA. She and her husband Bill bought the store from Brookline Booksmith when it was put up for sale in 2010 because they didn’t want their town to lose its local indie and they had always dreamed of owning a bookstore. Gillian grew up surrounded by independent bookstores in Berkeley, CA and was educated at the University of California where she received her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and her J.D. Since moving to Massachusetts, Gillian has been involved with numerous community and literary endeavors and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Wellesley Chamber of Commerce and 826 Boston, a youth literacy organization founded by Dave Eggers. She has served on the New England Independent Booksellers Association Advisory Council and currently sits on its Board of Directors where she served as President from 2015-2017.
