9 Amazing Audiobook Picks from an Industry Insider
I LOVE books but with young children, work, a marriage, a house, most days are a juggling act with no downtime to sit and read for fun. I have worked in audiobook publishing for years and listened sporadically but never embraced the format completely until recently. Now I listen anytime, anywhere: on the train, the bus, getting groceries or coffee, cooking, cleaning, walking and even going to bed. Through audiobooks I regained my “me time” without taking away from other priorities.
June is Audiobook Month and to celebrate, here are some of the books I could not stop listening to. Also, many bestselling authors have participated in “A Good Audiobook Speaks Volumes” video series to celebrate their love of audiobooks. I’ve included some of them here—enjoy!
Every now and then an author and narrator combination comes along that is just a perfect fit. That couldn’t be more true than with Stephen King and Will Patton (unless it’s James Lee Burke and Will Patton, but more on that another day). From the first moments of this recording you’ll have chills, and you’ll keep them. I promise.

4Better Nate Than Ever
Listening to Nate and his dreams of being a Broadway star opened up a new shared passion with my children. My advice? Turn off the TV. Shut down the video games and listen to this story with your kids. You’ll all love it!

Listeners may recognize Jennifer Ehle as Elizabeth Bennet from the BBC’s "Pride and Prejudice" (you know—the one with Colin Firth). As for me, after hearing her narrate the first in Cassandra Clare’s Infernal Devices series, she will always remind me of heroine Tessa Gray and the thrilling world of Shadowhunters, and that’s a very good thing!

If you’re a parent, you might know Santino Fontana as the voice of that devil Hans in the film Frozen. Now, meet him as Joe, bookseller/stalker/very bad boy. Ask anyone who has heard it. This audiobook is seriously compelling listening.

By now you’ve realized that I love series. Great YA gets me every time, and this terrific story has it all! A rash of teen suicides leads the government to establish a treatment called The Program, but those who go in don’t come out the same, they lose a part of their identity. And the love triangle in this story is one of the best. THE PROGRAM is truly one of my favorite recordings.
